The starting signal for the New Messe Essen was given on May 2, 2016. The comprehensive modernisation of the fair site in Essen with an investment volume of around Euro 90 million is in full swing.
Regular updates on this website will keep you informed of how IPM ESSEN is affected by the modernisation during the second development phase.
During the construction phase from May 2017 to August 2018, halls 4, 4A and 5 will be completely dismantled. The southern half of the future hall 6 and a new logistics area adjoining the Galeria will take their place, along with a trade fair lounge with a transparent look and communicative atmosphere and the new central service centre.
Temporary halls 13 and 14, as well as the directly connected Grugahalle, will provide replacement areas for the removed exhibition space during the entire length of IPM ESSEN 2018. From the east, the entrance to the exhibition grounds will be located through the foyer in hall 14. All visitors arriving at the fair from the east will be led through halls 13 and 14 when entering or leaving IPM ESSEN. Clear signposting ensures a direct connection to the new 2,000-square-metre East Glass Foyer and the remaining exhibition halls.
Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen GmbH:
"The temporary halls will be located in attractive positions which will permit an optimum circuit.
We are using the modernisation as an opportunity to combine the ranges on offer at IPM ESSEN spatially and to adjust the hall structure to the target groups of visitors."
