Company profile

Sylva is a fixed value on the market of forest - and hedging plants. Production processes at our nursery are taking care of environmental and social capital. This, together with the constant high quality of our products, builds the image of our nursery. Our aim is to strengthen our position on the European market through our innovative way of working combined with the experience of our skilled team of employees.

Sylva is located in the nursery centre to the north of Ghent, where the light, sandy and fertile soil combined with the mild sea climate, gives us the optimum conditions to produce first quality nursery stock with good fibrous root system.

The central location at the 'heart' of Europe, with its highly advanced transportation grid, ensures smooth and particularly swift distribution of our products.

85 % of our production is exported all over Europe, and we even export a part of our production outside of Europe to countries like Canada, USA and China.

Our key products are a broad range of deciduous and coniferous seed grown plants for forestry and hedging purposes. Graded in different sizes and ages, from 1 year old seedlings till 3 or 4 year transplanted plants.

For all your root stock, we also have the perfect product available at our nursery, graded according your specifications.

We produce about 25 million plants on  85 Ha. Our production methods are adapted  to reach the standards of the MPS certification, using as less as possible herbicides and chemical fertilizers to ensure an environmental and sustainable production.

Our facilities, which were recently enlarged with a huge cooling storage of 5000m3, guarantee us the best conditions to stock and prepare our plants before shipment.

Sylva nurseries was awarded international grower of the year 2009 and in 2010, we achieved the MPS GAP certificate (good agricultural practices) and became the first field grown nursery in the world to achieve this certification.

We offer you also contract growing of seedlings with seeds from your own specific origins.

We invite you to come and visit our nurseries at all times or please visit our website at: www.sylva.be
