Information and assistance

Barrier-free arrival

MESSE ESSEN saves special parking spaces for people with disabilities. These are very close to our East, South and West entrances. Please be prepared to present your parking permit for the disabled or severely handicapped. Our transportation director will be happy to assign you a special parking space.

People with a degree of disability >=80% and the mark aG or G in their severely disabled person's pass will be able to park free of charge. They will be able to have their car park tickets rebated at the information desks or, if the barriers were open when they drove into the car park, to receive a ticket for driving out of the car park free of charge there. For this purpose, it will merely be necessary to present the disability card and to acknowledge receipt of the rebate or the ticket.

The East entrance is accessible via car park P1. For the Southe/West entrances, special parking is available in the underground parking garage P6 A and the parking garage P5.

Please note that not all entrances are open every exhibition. The available entrances will be announced the exhibition-related websites.

The Underground line 11 travels directly from Essen Central Station to the entrances. We recommend the West entrance. 160 meters from this stop’s railway track, there is a ramp leading to the entrance. From there it is about 270 m to the South entrance and about 700 m to the East entrance. There is an elevator at the East entrance of the Underground station.

Admission and carers

You can receive discounted admission at some MESSE ESSEN events by presenting your disabled pass. This will be announced on exhibition-related websites.

Your carer will receive free admission if you have a severely disabled person’s pass with code “B”. This only applies to only one carer and only in conjunction with your admission ticket.

Accessibility on the exhibition grounds

The MESSE ESSEN grounds are optimised for a fully accessible stay. The East, South and West entrances can be navigated at ground level. Cloakrooms and ticket sales are right on the ground floor. All other halls are easily accessible by elevator. For more detailed information please refer to the map of the grounds .

Toilet facilities for the disabled are near the foyers. These are equipped with the EURO WC closure on the exhibition grounds. If you do not have this key, the toilet maintenance staff can unlock the WC for you on-site. In addition, at every exhibition information station you will receive a corresponding key upon presentation of your ID.

Through the Disabled Persons and Friends Club of Darmstadt, you can apply for a key that can be used at 6,700 locations throughout Europe.
