Green City: Meeting Place for Associations and Experts

The trade visitors will find topical and relevant sectoral subjects in a concentrated form in Hall 1A in the Green City.

Innovation Showcase

Since 2008, the latest plant innovations have been exhibited and honoured in the Innovation Showcase at IPM ESSEN. All the plant exhibitors at IPM ESSEN will have the possibility of presenting their innovations in Hall 1A.

"Innovations" in the terms of the exhibition regulations will include new breeds and new wild and growth forms which have not been known until now and have not been exhibited at any other German fair. The exhibited plants will be assessed by a knowledgeable jury on the day before the opening. The most attractive plant in each category from the ranges of "Flowering and Green House Plants", "Spring-Flowering Plants", "Bedding and Balcony Plants", "Cut Flowers", "Bushes and Shrubs", "Woody Plants" as well as "Tub Plants" will be chosen as the "IPM Innovation 2018" and will be presented in Hall 1A on the opening day.

The IPM Innovation Showcase will be jointly staged by Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V. (ZVG - "Central Horticultural Association") and Messe Essen GmbH. Exhibitors of IPM ESSEN 2018 can apply here .

Horticultural Info Centre

At IPM ESSEN 2018, the Central Horticultural Association (ZVG), ideal sponsor of IPM ESSEN, as well as the co-organiser the North Rhine-Westphalia State Horticultural Association will once again present their comprehensive spectrum of services in the Horticulture Info Center in the Green City in Hall 1A and will be available to answer the questions of the member companies. Not only the professional associations but also institutions from the fields of advice, science and research as well as training and ongoing education will be represented.

Advantages Resulting from a Knowledge Lead: Teaching Show

On all the days of IPM ESSEN, the teaching show on the booth of the Horticultural Info Centre in Hall 1A will display innovative and pioneering developments for the advancing digitalisation of horticulture from the fields of monitoring, autonomous machine technology, training and business management. From the trainee to the operations manager, the various projects will invite everybody who would like to obtain information about the digital world of the modern gardener on an interactive playing field.

Furthermore, the "hortigate" info system in the Horticulture Info Center will show the "MyBusiness" module which ornamental plant cultivation businesses can use in order to plan their plant protection measures and to document them in conformity with GlobalGAP.

g&v CreativCenter

For florists, it is a fine art to take up fashion trends in a perfect way and thus to animate the customer to purchase. Successful product presentations, concise sales displays and interesting stories relating to all aspects of the product provide assistance in this respect and help to address new target groups.

In the g&v CreativCenter, florists at IPM ESSEN 2018 will become familiar not only with the presentation techniques necessary for this purpose but also with the colour and subject worlds appropriate to them in order to reach customers emotionally. The objective of the CreativCenter will be to equip trade visitors from the floral retail trade with inspirations for the coming season. Attention will focus on marketing concepts for everything to do with garden plants, cut flowers and the presentation of flowering classics. Emphasis will be placed on the product's story in each case - because stories awaken emotions and emotions sell products.

The ideas for modern sales stories will be played through using shop window designing techniques as well as point of sale displays. As the star guest, Wally Klett, Germany's queen of wedding floristry, will introduce the design trends of the coming season. Therefore, IPM ESSEN will also be worthwhile for event and wedding planners in order to gain an insight into the floral trends of the coming season.

Under the motto of "BLOOM’s WORLD – Nature & Handcraft", the BLOOM's special show will offer fresh ideas for florists to be taken over into their own box of ideas immediately.

The workshop-like presentation areas will take up subjects close to practice and will invite visitors to transfer the concepts presented in situ to their own specialised businesses. The special show will be flanked by a presentation of strong-selling ranges for floristic event and shop presentations: From fantastic plant ideas via enthralling floristry right up to trendy products, the entire range of the green sector will await the trade visitor. It will be possible to pick up and try out floral designing techniques in a relaxed workshop atmosphere. Here, florists will be offered the one-off possibilities of refining their knowledge and abilities and standing out from the competition in this way - raising turnover to a noticeable extent by gaining know-how.

FDF World

Ideas about addressing customers in the correct way will be supplied by the Trend Hotspot of the Trade Association of German Florists - Federal Association (FDF).

In the FDF World in Hall 1A, the FDF will present varied live shows with floral designers from throughout the world every day. The highlights will include the World Cup Shows. Alex Choi from Korea, the reigning World Champion of Florists, and Stein Are Hansen from Norway, the World Champion of Florists in 2010, will appear together in a first-rate floristry show on the Wednesday and the Thursday.
