The trade visitors will find topical and relevant sectoral subjects in a concentrated form in Hall 1A in the Green City.
Since 2008, the latest plant innovations have been exhibited and honoured in the Innovation Showcase at IPM ESSEN. All the plant exhibitors at IPM ESSEN will have the possibility of presenting their innovations in Hall 1A.
"Innovations" in the terms of the exhibition regulations will include new breeds and new wild and growth forms which have not been known until now and have not been exhibited at any other German fair. The exhibited plants will be assessed by a knowledgeable jury on the day before the opening. The most attractive plant in each category from the ranges of "Flowering and Green House Plants", "Spring-Flowering Plants", "Bedding and Balcony Plants", "Cut Flowers", "Bushes and Shrubs", "Woody Plants" as well as "Tub Plants" will be chosen as the "IPM Innovation 2019" and will be presented in Hall 1A on the opening day.
The IPM Innovation Showcase will be jointly staged by Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V. (ZVG - "Central Horticultural Association") and Messe Essen GmbH.

Effective staging, exciting creations and lots of creative fun - the IPM Messe Cup is always worth participating in. No matter whether florist or gardener, trainee or master - every competitor gets the chance to present himself, his skills and his workpieces at IPM Essen in the categories "bouquet", "green hero in a pot" and "pot planting".
The theme of the tripartite competition is "So leb' ich - Grüner wird's nicht" ("I live this way - it doesn't get greener"). The wake-up calls of the young generation to climate and environmental protection cannot be ignored. Let your imagination run free and show us, in a personal "statement", your love for the diverse and blooming nature. The IPM Messe-Cup focuses on the range of floristic and horticultural services - paired with a large portion of creativity. In each category, the work pieces that best implement the theme with free design will be awarded prizes. The competition is particularly worthwhile for the next generation of designers. This is because the jury also honours the best trainees in each category. In addition, the combination winner receives the coveted IPM Messe Cup.
The German Horticultural Association (Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V.) (ZVG), the conceptual sponsor of IPM ESSEN, and its co-organiser, the North Rhine-Westphalia Horticultural Association (Landesverband Gartenbau Nordrhein-Westfalen e. V.), will present their extensive range of services in the Horticultural Info Centre in Hall 1A. In addition to the professional associations, institutions from the fields of consulting, science and research as well as training and further education will be presenting their latest findings.
The topics of consultation will include training and further training opportunities for specialists and managers in horticulture and what new possibilities of financial support can be used for this. Another topic concerns modern plant protection strategies through the use of beneficial organisms. But the requirements for the plant passport are also discussed. Since mid-December 2019, this has been obligatory for all horticultural businesses that produce plants for planting. Last but not least, it also deals with farm succession and what needs to be taken into account.
The Federal Associations of Ornamental Plants (BVZ), Retail Gardeners (BVE) and the Federation of German Cemetery Gardeners (BdF) with their sub-groups (Special Group Azerca, Federation of German Perennial Gardeners, Young Plants Section) will provide information on production and service issues and present new service offers.
The BVE team of experts will show how member companies can use the specialist information and professional photos from the BVE photo pool and other advertising material such as the bee brochure or the customer magazine "PflanzenTipps" online for their individual marketing purposes.
Together with the Einheitserde Werkverband e. V., the BVE offers member companies in the regional horticultural associations the ZVG own brands "Gärtner Spezial", "Gärtner Exklusiv" and the "Gärtner Premium" potting soil. At the BVE stand all interested parties can obtain information.
The focus of BLOOM's World 2020 will be on the latest trends, as well as a wealth of ideas for theme presentations and product ranges for small and large business formats in the flower and plant trade.
Our lives have become varied. Globalisation, networking, mechanisation, bureaucratisation and abundance. A lot of information goes beyond our current horizons. It is therefore obvious that people are longing for more simplicity again. "Less is more" is the trend. With JUST SIMPLE the BLOOM's team therefore names the latest trends for the year 2020. But JUST SIMPLE does not only hit the core of the new message, it means more than just reduction. JUST SIMPLE incorporates the ecological aspect of our previous consumer behaviour and urges us to rethink. A return to simplicity plays a central role in this.
BLOOM's designer and trend scout Marion Bauer and her team have been able to identify five different aspects and trendy style orientations. Trade visitors can experience vividly and live how the new trend colours of the coming season, the corresponding containers, matching accessories, but above all environmentally friendly materials and of course flowers and plants in harmony with nature, ecology and sustainability take up this trend zeitgeist in the sense of JUST SIMPLE.
These five themes can be seen:
In addition to these five trend presentations, trade visitors will also find lots of ideas for seasonal or occasion-related floristry worlds in the so-called "themed houses". Designed as ideal product carriers that could also be used in flower retailing, innovative ideas for large and small areas in green specialist retail will be shown. Here, floral product designs are embedded in sales-boosting product presentations that appeal to customers and encourage them to buy.
And these are the live acts in the BLOOM's WORLD special show:
There will also be plenty of ideas for product presentations and new ranges, flower and plant collections, new concepts from growers and marketers and creative and expressive shop presentations. "Welcome to the sea of blossoms" is the motto of the new poinsettia assortment, which for the first time proves itself as a houseplant beyond Christmas with its design power for modern room scenarios.
BLOOM`s WORLD will once again be a multifaceted all-round experience, the image of an inspiring and multifaceted industry that looks courageously and full of ideas into the future.
Anyone who wants to carry one or two things home in printed form in a sustainable and re-experienceable way will find an extensive range of international specialist literature, floristry magazines, lifestyle magazines and decorative books at the BLOOM`s media stand.
Ideas about addressing customers in the correct way will be supplied by the Trend Hotspot of the Trade Association of German Florists - Federal Association (FDF).
In the FDF World in Hall 1A, the FDF will present varied live shows with floral designers from throughout the world every day.
