Company profile

We are Sonnenerde, an Austrian company based in Burgenland, and we develop and produce sustainable, peat- and coconut-free soils, substrates and climate protection solutions. Our focus is on living soils, closed material cycles and products that promote soil fertility and actively contribute to climate protection.

At IPM Essen, we will be presenting selected substrate solutions for professional use in gardening and landscaping as well as in urban areas. A particular highlight is our Stadtbaum fine substrate for use in Stockholm's tree planting system, which was developed specifically for the requirements of urban trees. It impresses with its high structural stability, load-bearing capacity, optimal aeration and sustainable water storage. Through the use of biochar, it contributes to long-term CO₂ binding and enables urban trees to live for hundreds of years again.

We will also be presenting our solutions for urban gardening. Our peat- and coconut-free soils and substrates enable healthy plant growth even in limited spaces – whether on balconies, roof gardens or in community gardens – and support sustainable, regional food production, all without the use of additional fertiliser.

Another focus of our trade fair presentation is the cannabis sector. With our organic hemp soil, we offer a specially developed soil that meets the specific requirements of professional hemp cultivation. The balanced composition ensures stable root development, optimal nutrient availability and active soil life – and is, of course, peat and coconut fibre free.

With our products, we combine ecological responsibility with technical functionality and develop substrate solutions for climate-resilient cities, sustainable agriculture and modern gardening culture.

In addition, we will be presenting the feed charcoal for pets and farm animals from our subsidiary Charline at our stand.
