The best roses with the least impact
Porta Nova's mission is to grow the best Red Naomi roses with the least impact on the environment. And we have consistently applied this since the construction of our new location in 2018. In everything we do. Porta Nova is a merger of three family businesses. In 2007, Aad van Luijk, Nico van Vuuren, and Leon Dukker decided to combine their knowledge, experience, and passion with the aim of growing the best roses in the world with the least impact on the environment.
FUTURA
Porta Nova's FUTURA is the most environmentally friendly rose: based on the reenest scenario and using 100% wind energy. According to the new European calculation method Flori-PEFCR, this rose has the lowest carbon footprint of all roses on the European market. This footprint may vary slightly each year due to weather conditions. It is currently 70 grams of CO2 per stem. In comparison with the ‘traditional way’ of growing roses, this is a reduction of 95%. This figure and the calculation method is validated and certified by ValidIT.
Dutch grown
Today, there is a very modern 15-hectare rose nursery in Waddinxveen, the Netherlands, where around 200 employees are dedicated to growing the most beautiful red roses. It is the largest grower of Red Naomi roses in the world, with an annual production of approximately 50 million stems. Porta Nova is a member of Royal FloraHolland and sells its roses to exporters, wholesalers, and florist chains through that marketplace. The company is managed by Leon Dukker and Stefan van Vuuren, Nico's son.
