"Empowers women in global cut flower supply chains"

The majority of workers on flower farms in Kenya and Ethiopia are women. Fairtrade supports certified farms in changing the unequal power relations that women face in the workplace and in society - towards greater gender equality. Strong standards and projects such as the Blooming Flowers Project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, specifically empower women. Employees of the Fairtrade producer network Fairtrade Africa and a project participant report on what this looks like in practice.

"RCS 2.0 - the substrate free rooting system that makes sustainabilty profitable"

RCS 2.0 (Rooted Cuttings System) is an innovative method for producing rooted cuttings without substrate, using biodegradable cellulose sleeves. This new approach offers compact, lightweight young plants that are easier to handle and transport, reducing costs and packaging needs. As a peat-free, substrate-free system made from biodegradable materials, RCS 2.0 combines sustainability with efficiency - cutting carbon emissions and waste while improving logistics and environmental performance. Floris Tas explains the benefits for producers and licensees and is available to answer questions.

“Variety stability, genetic transparency, and quality control: How to produce competitive cannabis varieties in 2026”

The legalization and rapidly growing market for cannabis seeds present new opportunities for horticulture - but also high demands. In this presentation, Matthias Coufal (Hans Brainfood / BudVoyage) shows how modern breeding processes, stable genetics, valid quality control, and transparent origin information make the decisive difference between average and marketable strains. Using practical examples, he will explain how producers can achieve strain stability, avoid THC fluctuations, ensure germination rates, and clearly differentiate themselves from pure resellers. The presentation is aimed at horticultural professionals, seed companies, and distributors who want to operate successfully in the new cannabis market in 2026.

"Powering the Future of Horticulture"

As a horticultural company, energy is at the heart of everything we do. By combining year-round use of heat and electricity, we have learned to manage energy efficiently—this is the reality today. But what about tomorrow? Our industry holds a unique opportunity: to move toward CO₂ neutrality. At Anthura, we are actively exploring innovative ways to achieve this through modern energy strategies. This means moving away from fossil fuels and embracing multiple energy sources. One key objective is to store surplus energy, such as residual heat or low-cost summer surplus electricity, for later use, even across seasons. The advantage by staking this method the horticulture can easy help to stabilize the grip. We will share practical insights on energy-saving measures (LED lighting, dehumidifiers, shading screens) and alternative sources like wind energy, data centre heat recovery and even possibility producing our own H₂O₂. The key message? Don’t bet on a single source. The era of relying on one solution is over. Flexibility and diversification are essential for a sustainable future in horticulture.

“Where to go with horticulture?- A contribution to a reliable, climate-resilient food supply”

Local horticulture and agriculture are under pressure, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to produce in an economically and ecologically sensible way, especially in the area of specialty crops. At the same time, more and more people are living in urban centers. How can we achieve a year-round, mass-market, climate-resilient food supply with fresh, locally produced food? The presentation will showcase scalable, practical options for making vegetable cultivation more productive and efficient and bringing it closer to the people.
