Constant Tension Retractable (CTR) Roof System

Constant Tension Retractable (CTR) Roof System
Innovation

The Constant Tension Retractable (CTR) Roof System is a new greenhouse roof solution developed by NP Structures to deliver precise, controllable climate management.

Unlike conventional retractable roofs, the CTR system is designed to be held securely at any position along its travel. A constant-tension roll-off mechanism maintains stable roof tension during movement and at rest, allowing growers to precisely regulate light and airflow, even in changeable or windy conditions.

The roof opens from the apex downwards, enabling warm air to be released where it naturally accumulates. This allows internal temperatures to be reduced with smaller, incremental openings, supporting a more predictable and stable growing environment. The approach also enables crops to be hardened off in situ, reducing plant handling and the need for additional growing space.

The CTR Roof System has been developed for professional greenhouse applications and will be presented as a demonstration model at the booth.

NP Structures to showcase Constant Tension Retractable (CTR) Roof System at IPM Essen

NP Structures will be presenting its new Constant Tension Retractable (CTR) Roof System at IPM Essen, offering growers a new approach to greenhouse climate control.

The CTR system is designed for fine adjustment, allowing the roof to be positioned and held securely at any point along its travel. By maintaining constant tension, the system enables precise control of light and airflow, even in changeable or windy conditions.

Venting begins at the apex of the structure, releasing warm air where it naturally accumulates and allowing internal temperatures to be reduced with minimal roof movement. This supports more stable growing conditions and enables crops to be hardened off in situ, reducing the need for additional space or plant handling.

Visitors can see a demonstration model of the CTR Roof System on the NP Structures stand.
